Cushing’s and Addison’s Disease in Cats and Dogs

Aging cats and dogs suffering from Cushing’s Disease will experience symptoms including excessive thirst, frequent urinating, pot-belly-like appearance, thin coat and skin, increased appetite, unusual skin bumps, skin and/or bladder infections, and hyperactivity. These symptoms are a result of dysfunction in the adrenal glands where too much glucocorticoid hormone is produced causing the pituitary gland in the brain to signal the adrenal glands to produce more hormones or there is a benign/cancerous tumor in the adrenal glands that is causing the over production of hormones.
